14,834 children in vulnerable circumstances due to drug menace: Dept. of Probation and Child Care

The Department of Probation and Child Care Services has identified 14,834 children in vulnerable circumstances across the country, its officials disclosed at the Colombo District Secretariat on Thursday (28) during the District Multi-Stakeholder Drug Prevention, Treatment and Rehabilitation Programme.

An official from the Department of Probation and Child Care Services said that Child Rights Promotion Officers were currently engaged in supporting vulnerable children, while a significant number of cases were also being referred to the Department through police stations.
