Travel chaos as Waterloo paralysed by signal failure

Thousands of train travellers faced delays and cancelled journeys yesterday after a major signalling failure at London's Waterloo station.
Fourteen platforms were out of use after issues were first reported to National Rail around 5.30am yesterday. The group warned that disruption is expected today as South Western Railways urged customers yesterday morning not to travel.
In a statement on X, the railway operator said: “Engineers are on still attempting to restore the use of the platforms, but with very few trains able to move in and out of London Waterloo and crew already displaced, services across the network are severely disrupted.”
