Daisy Lester picks the top winter cashmere jumpers

SOFT OPTIONS

No winter wardrobe is complete without the best cashmere jumpers. Perennially chic while being thoroughly practical, the material ticks all the boxes for cold-weather dressing.

From Parisian turtleneck jumpers and colourful vests to classic cardigans or chunky crew necks, the material has timeless appeal. Long-lasting and durable, cashmere is crafted from finely woven wool with a luxuriously soft texture. Keeping you warm while helping to regulate your temperature, there's a reason why the fabric attracts eye-watering prices.

But gone are the days when only designer brands sold cashmere pieces. The high street is brimming with premium styles at a far less eye-watering price point. Marks & Spencer's and Uniqlo's cashmere starts from just £80, and John Lewis has styles for £120. Elsewhere, The White Company's revamped line starts from £300 and easily rivals The Row, while Rise & Fall's luxurious cashmere could be mistaken for Toteme.

Whether courtesy of Stella McCartney or Victoria Beckham, the humble grey knit is back in a big way for 2025, while burgundy and striped finishes are trending for bolder dressers. When it comes to cuts, preppy-style cardigans and oversized silhouettes will take the guesswork out of autumn dressing.

From vests and button-down styles to classic crew neck and slimfit designs, I've tested the best cashmere jumpers to invest in for 2025 and beyond. My top pick is the M&S pure cashmere crew neck jumper, but there are equally stylish options from Uniqlo, H&M and more.

How I tested

Autumn dressing is all about layering, stompy boots, statement coats and, of course, knitwear. To ease you out of summer dressing and into winter, I've been testing cashmere jumpers in all-weather conditions.

'I don't necessarily need sex – just emotional proximity'

If you had shown me a snapshot of our relationship now, back when we first met, I would not have imagined in a million years that this is how we would be living. But I am trying not to regret anything. We have two lovely children and they are happy, and that is worth a lot. I try to concentrate on how rewarding and enriching my relationship with them is - rather than on my marriage.
