Rail station earmarked to close for upgrade

ANOTHER Kirklees train station is set to close as part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU).
Ravensthorpe station, near Dewsbury, is set to close from Sunday, December 14, until the summer of 2028 as part of the upgrades.
During the closure there will be rail replacement bus services running between Ravensthorpe and Dewsbury stations.
Work will see a new, modernised station built 200m west of its current location.
There will be a new step-free access and footbridge with lifts, a new forecourt with improved drop-off facilities, and a longer platform.
