'Panicked' teacher acted dishonestly with exam board

A “PANICKED” teacher knowingly allowed amendments to be made to coursework after marks had already been submitted to an exam board, a misconduct panel heard.

Kabir Zafar was working as a faculty leader in ICT at All Saints Catholic College, Huddersfield, when he allowed at least one pupil to amend their work.

He also provided feedback and/or assistance to at least one pupil when this was not allowed.

He was cleared of an allegation he had added to and/or edited at least one pupil's work after the submission of marks.

A conduct panel of the Teaching Regulation Agent heard Mr Zafar “panicked” when students’ work could not be found on IT systems. It was said he was under stress due to a “challenging” class who would “avoid doing work”.

The panel found Mr Zafar had acted dishonestly and was guilty of unacceptable professional conduct on or around May 2023 in relation to the OCR (Exam Board) Cambridge Nationals Creative IMedia Units.
