CONCERN FOR LISTED BUILDINGS OUTWEIGHED BY ECONOMIC GAIN FOR TOWN ON KEY SITE IN ENTERPRISE CORRIDOR
A HUDDERSFIELD mill at risk of dereliction will soon be placed at the centre of health tech innovation.
Thursday's meeting of Kirklees Council's Strategic Planning Committee agreed plans to allow Paxman Coolers permission to construct its new headquarters at the site of Turnbridge Mills at Quay Street. The mill site is owned by JL Brierley Ltd which is facing “unsustainable pressures” relating to the ageing condition of the buildings.
The move will allow Paxman Coolers to expand, as well as freeing up the company’s current premises at Fenay Bridge. The intention is for local, specialist engineering company, Reliance Precision, to move in to support its growth.
