Council leader quashes 'rumours and misinformation' of 'cancelled local elections'

THE Leader of Kirklees Council has set the record straight, as rumours of cancelled local elections swirl on social media.
Clr Carole Pattison explained: “In 2025 Kirklees Council has no planned routine local elections as local councillors in the District are elected on a cycle electing three councillors over a four-year period. Meaning that one year in every four there will be no elections, such as in 2025.
“But in 2026, electors in Kirklees will have the opportunity to elect all 69 councillors as all seats are up for election”
