Arrests in blitz on knives

DOZENS HELD AS PART OF CRACKDOWN ON KNIFE CRIME WITH WEAPONS SEIZED

DOZENS of people across West Yorkshire were arrested on suspicion of various knife crime offences last week as part of a week-long national campaign.

Alongside police forces across the country, West Yorkshire Police poured extra resources into tackling knife crime as part of the Knife Crime Week of Action between November 18 and November 23.

The week, the operation known as Sceptre created an increased police presence across West Yorkshire, leading to knives, machetes and a baton all being seized.

Some 70 arrests were also made for offences such as possession of offensive weapons, making threats to kill and assault.
