PULLS IN TRAIN AND BEER ENTHUSIASTS

- By ANDREW ROBINSON

Ale-ways have put pub on the track to success

Chris O'Brien and Jane Armitage have transformed the fortunes of The Railway at Berry Brow (inset)

IT’S become something of a mecca for lovers of cask ale and train enthusiasts too.

Huddersfield couple Chris O’Brien and Jane Armitage have transformed the fortunes of The Railway at Berry Brow, pulling in punters from across the North and beyond following the creation of the Penistone Line Ale Trail, which is growing in popularity thanks to some great pubs along the scene line.

Chris, who takes great pride in keeping a clean and tidy cellar for the all-important real ale, says the popularity of the pub has rocketed since he and Jane took over a year ago.

The success is down to several factors, including the rise of the Penistone Line Ale Trail, good hospitality and beer and the complete refurbishment of the pub.
