RACKET-SPORT COURT BEING INSTALLED, AND A BIG SCREEN

- By KATIE TIMMS

PLYMOUTH is set to become the only city in the UK to show Wimbledon on a big screen, alongside a full-size pop-up Padel court in its city centre.

Work has already been getting under way creating the seating area and court for Padel, a high-energy sport blending tennis and squash, which is played in an enclosed court with solid bats, allowing players to use the walls.

The sport is rapidly growing in popu-larity and will be available to play in the city from June 30 until July 13.

The event is being led by the Plymouth City Centre Company, in partner-ship with Padel United UK and Plymouth Marjon University, and aims to see the city centre turned into a festival of sport to celebrate Wimbledon.
