'Waterfall' pours onto city avenue

WATER is continuing to cascade from Central Park onto a busy city centre road with the council saying it is looking at “options” to fix the longstanding problem.

In August, Plymouth City Council began work to deal with the “waterfall” that was pouring onto Central Park Avenue and had caused a footpath to be closed for four years.

Vegetation was cleared and drainage diversion work was undertaken to divert water that has repeatedly flooded the path, and the footpath was reopened.

But four months on and heavy rain just before Christmas caused water to once again gush out onto the road.
