Pilgrims will have money to spend in January

BUT LOANEES WILL BE THE FIRST PORT OF CALL THIS WINDOW
PLYMOUTH Argyle have money left over in their budget to spend on new players during the January transfer window so do not need to sell any of their squad to do so, director of foot ball Derek Adams has confirmed.
The recently-appointed Adams thought loan signings rather than permanent deals 'could be the best avenue' for the Pilgrims, although he did not rule out the latter.
Adams will be heavily involved in player recruitment as part of his role at Home Park and has had meetings with head coach Tom Cleverley and head of football operations David Fox as plans are drawn up for the upcoming transfer window. With Argyle in 23rd position in League One, it is clear some work will need to be done during January to improve the quality of the squad.
Adams told Herald Sport: "The football department - the first team - has been very well supported over the summer transfer window.
"At the start of the season the chairman (Simon Hallett) spoke at the supporters' forum and let every body know we had a top six budget, and that's what it is.
"In that budget there is money left over to use in the January transfer window and we will go about trying to take in a number of players to enable us to go forward.
"We won't have to transfer any players out at this moment in time to do that. There is money left there to enable us to possibly take in loan players because in January that could be the best avenue. Permanently it's not easy.
