Parkway are left enraged by poor decisions in loss

PLYMOUTH Parkway were on the wrong side of a refereeing blunder from Nicholas Whittingham as Wimborne Town came from behind to seal a 3-2 win in the Southern League Premier Division on Tuesday night.

Chris McPhee' side had found themselves leading twice through a strong strike from Taylor Scarff and a well-worked finish from Tylor Love-Holmes, but a red card for Scarff and subsequent penalty in the 80th minute for an apparent handball swung the tide in The Magpies favour.

Whether Scarff handled the ball or not from a corner delivered into the Parkway penalty box was inconclusive on video replays, but what is for sure is that it was by no means deliberate, which calls into question why the defender was brandished a straight red card.

"Honestly, I don't think I can sum up how I'm feeling", said a furious McPhee after the game. "What I can say, is that I've just been in a dressing room with a very honest bunch of players, very hardworking bunch of players, a very dejected bunch of players. They gave everything tonight and unfortunately, we've come out on the wrong side of a result.

"To put it diplomatically, our honest players are on the wrong side of a very, very big decision: it's had a huge impact on the game. I'm trying to be respectful, but when there's a key moment in the game like that, you have to be 100 percent sure. You can't guess, and you certainly can't go on the reaction of a bunch of players who are trying to get back in the game.
