My Radio Days were frankly a bit of a joke

VANITY, thy name is Henderson. While we are in the habit of misquoting people, let's do it again.

- GUY HENDERSON

Katy Perry last week, William Shakespeare this. Never say this column does not offer an eclectic mix.

My vanity comes in the form of an amended mugshot to accompany this column. You may notice, if you are a regular reader of this page, that the picture of me which adorns it has changed. Gone is the fresh-faced youngster in the blue denim shirt, all devil-may-care auburn hair flowing in the breeze. Here, in its place, is an older, greyer, more lined face which more accurately reflects the current state of your correspondent.

It had to be done, and was hastened by a stream of emojis and a ‘ha-ha-ha-ha’ message from a colleague the other day, suggesting that it might be high time I changed the face looking out from the page.

How old is that picture, he wanted to know, with a row of exclamation and question marks.
