Mums fined over failing to ensure school attendance

THREE mums from Plymouth have received heavy fines after failing to ensure their children attended school. They were all hit with £440 fines at Plymouth Magistrates' Court.

They will all have to pay court costs of varying amounts.
Reporting restrictions are in place which mean we cannot identify the three parents or the schools their children attend. The first failed to ensure that two children attended school. As well as the £440 fine, she must pay court costs of £200 and a victim surcharge of £352, meaning she must pay £992.
