FAMILY IS 'OVERWHELMED' BY COMMUNITY REACTION
ONE of Plymouth's best-loved bakeries has been overwhelmed with support after revealing how much the cost-of-living crisis is hitting business.
The family-run Mrs Browns Bakery reported recently that it had been hit by a slowdown in trade.
But following a post on social media, patrons came flooding back, and one city firm even paid for customers to have a discount. It left the team at Mrs Browns overwhelmed with its owner "in tears" - and they have now issued an appeal for people to support all the city's small independent businesses at a time when everyone is feeling the pinch.
"The community has really stepped up for us," said Mrs Browns' owner Georgie Morgia. "We have been inundated with customers. And LPR Plastering and Building donated £100 so our customers could have a discount."
The wave of support came after Mrs Browns posted on social media that it had served only eight customers in a five-hour stretch one day last week. It called this "scary and very concerning".
