Gale and Lloyd get revenge on Woock sisters

SUE Gale and Toni Lloyd were keen to avenge their close defeat at the start of the season in the GA Solicitors MLTC Winter League Ladies A to league leaders Megan and Annie Woock.

It didn’t look promising in the first set after a rain delayed start as they soon went 4-1 down. However they fought back in a very attacking game by both sides and pulled the sisters back to a tiebreak which Sue and Toni confidently took.

The rain then stopped and somehow Toni and Sue found themselves losing the set to love in no time at all. Level at one set all, Sue and Toni decided to go for their shots and with the rain starting again, they came through strongly to take the third set and win overall 6-5, 0-6, 6-3.

They ended up with less points than their opposition, but took the bonus points for winning overall, which made all the difference.

Nicky Trevaskis and Fiona Crutchley were dominant in taking the first two sets 6-4 and 6-2 against Helen Wright and Suzanne Sykes, who stepped up their game win the final set 6-4.

Nicky Slight and Jess Randell were too strong for Sandra O'Sullivan and Luisa Warring and won 6-2, 6-2, 6-4, while Stephanie D'Haussy and Caroline Floccia finally managed to finish their Ladies B match at the third time of asking against Libby Allman and Debbie Theophilus and won 6-0, 3-6, 6-1.
