Don't blame Argyle's chairman for its woes

AS an Argyle supporter for 70 years, I was very pleased to read in The Herald on 11 June, the letter from Bob Gelder, whose views I completely share.

The social media attacks on Simon Hallett have been appalling. We should all be grateful for his kind generosity in providing funds for Argyle to move splendidly forward in many ways.

Without his help we would not have had key players like Whittaker and Mumba in the fantastic 2022/23 season, when Argyle won League One with 101 points.

Nobody should point the finger of blame on him for failing to secure significant new funding. The fact that the investors concerned failed to pass the tests of due diligence required by Argyle and the EFL showed that their involvement was too risky.
