DEVASTATING AND RARE BRAIN DISEASE
A YOUNG Plymouth girl is seriously ill in hospital with a devastating and rare brain disease which caused her heart to stop beating and left her in severe pain. Little Paisley-jade Bellerby has been on life support in a hospital in Bristol where her worried family is with her.
The seven-year-old suffers from acute necrotizing encephalopathy, described by doctors as a “devastating neurologic condition” that can arise following an infection and can lead to “rapid changes in consciousness, focal neurological deficits, and seizures”.
