Councillor who quit Labour joins Lib Dems
The Herald

PLYMOUTH'S first openly trans councillor has jumped ship to the Liberal Democrats just days after leaving Labour. Dylan Tippetts resigned from the Labour Party last week accusing it of “throwing transgender people under the bus".
-
Cllr Tippetts, 24, was elected in the Compton ward in 2022 but will now sit as a Lib Dem.
His was the first of three resignations from Labour within days, following Cllr Carol Ney and now Cllr Zoe Reilly - who will sit as an unaffiliated independent (see Page 5 for full story).
The councillor, who became the first Labour member to represent Compton, had accused the national Labour Party of taking transgender people “back decades” and denying them the “basic right" to live peacefully.
