Company named to run new docks shuttle bus

A LONDON-based tech and transport company is to run a new shuttle bus service in Plymouth designed to take cars off the road.

The service is for thousands of Devonport Dockyard workers and will link Plymouth, Saltash and Ivybridge and involve users downloading an app.

Defence giant Babcock International Group Plc brought in “smart bus platform” Zeelo to run what it calls the “sustainable” bus shuttle. It wants to “transform” the daily commute for its workers and cut down on the number of cars driving around the city and needing somewhere to park.

Zeelo, described as a leading Transportation-as-a-Service (TaaS) provider, will use its innovative MoveSmart initiative initially to serve what it calls high-density commuter corridors in Plymouth, Ivybridge, and Saltash.

The service will operate from 5am until 5pm and will be available through a Zeelo mobile app.
