Community-led plan for Pride celebration
The Herald
|April 23, 2025
A COMMUNITY-led Pride celebration is coming to Plymouth following the cancellation of the official Plymouth Pride event.
The announcement was made that the celebration was "cancelled for 2025 owing to a lack of support".
Now, a group of organisations and individuals have come together to create Plymouth Community Pride. Taking place on Saturday, July 12, the event will bring together a number of smaller, communitybased events and celebrations under one banner to ensure Pride is still celebrated in the city.
The organisers are creating a map to help direct people to different Pride events that are being hosted across Plymouth, as well as to smaller events which other venues and organisations may be putting on. They are appealing for anyone who may be organising an event or celebration to get in touch so every activity can be promoted through Plymouth Community Pride and local people know what is happening, and are also asking for support and sponsorship from local businesses to help keep events free or low cost for people to attend.
Plymouth Community Pride is being led by local organisations and businesses including Queer Out Loud, the Barbican Theatre and Deart Promotions as well as a number of volunteers and supporters.
