TOM Cleverley has spoken about the pressure he is putting on himself to try and get better Plymouth Argyle performances and results after their wildly inconsistent start to the season.

The Pilgrims' boss wants 'to change the narrative' at a club which has become all too used to losing games over the past couple of years, first in the Championship and now in League One.

Argyle are in 22nd position in the table a third of the way into the 2025/26 campaign, and both he and others at the club have come in for fierce criticism from fans recently.

A lot of that stems from the team's dismal display in the 2-0 Devon derby defeat at Exeter City on October 23, which has been followed by two more away losses by the same scoreline, first to Mansfield Town in the league and then Wycombe Wanderers in the Emirates FA Cup first round.

Argyle will be looking to stop that run of poor results when they take on Huddersfield Town, who are in ninth place but have been beaten in their last three league fixtures, at the Accu Stadium tomorrow.

Cleverley said: "It's my job. I put a lot of pressure on myself. I want to change the narrative of the club. It's a club, it's a fanbase that has consistently lost for two-and-a-half years.

"I put a lot of pressure on myself. I dedicate my life to change that. I do feel pressure and it's something I'm working night and day to try and put right.

"It's part of my job, that is the seat I sit in. If I go through all the correct processes through the week and lose on a weekend then I have failed.

"If I go through all the wrong processes through the week and win, I have succeeded. That's part of my job, I accept that. All I can do is look after the processes to the best of my ability and hopefully that results in a win to relieve some of that pressure."
