He added: 'I thought Benarous was fantastic in his first league start. Malachi has been our most consistent performer this season, excellent again, but we are just struggling to put both parts of our game together at the minute and it's my job to try and figure out the balance of the team that is the best way to do that.
“Until all the business was done this window, we were trying to pick up as much points until we were a complete team. Now we have not managed to do that for one reason or another. We are all disappointed, we are all hurting but we all have to stick together.”
The game was played out in front of a 15,000-plus crowd at Home Park and loud boos rang around Home Park at full-time after yet another defeat for Argyle. Cleverley said: “They pay their money, they can voice their frustrations. I think they have got the right balance of being demanding as well as not turning on their team, and supporting them.
“I have been there as a young player where it really can turn and it's hostile, and it’s not easy to perform under those circumstances. I would say thanks for the support, keep being demanding as well as backing the team the best you can.”
