SALTASH got the Christmas bonus they desperately needed by winning 33-12 at Penryn
The Ashes’ season so far has been a litany of near misses home and awaythat have kept them at the bottom of the Western Counties standings.
This win, their first on the road this season, lifted Saltash off the bottom and within a point of Plymstock, the side they have to get past to exit the relegation zone.
It was an excellent Saltash dis play based on a controlled team performance with Dylan Davies outstanding and Tom Hoban solid at lock forward. Billy Dover was safe at fullback and Will Morton was back to his best with a hat trick of tries
Despite parading a muchchanged side due to injuries, Saltash steamed into a 23-5 half time lead on the Memorial Ground.
Saltash trailed briefly to an early try, but took the game by the scruff of the neck with tries by Hoban, two from Morton and the bonus-point score from Lewis Woolaway. Jack Pritchard potted a penalty.
