CALL TO SLASH BUS FARE CAP TO £1.75 FOR SOME JOURNEYS
A CAMPAIGN has been launched calling for a reduction in the bus fare cap in England to £1.75 for certain journeys. The current cap is set at £3 for a single journey, having risen from £2 at the end of 2024. This cap is voluntary, meaning bus service providers can choose whether to sign up to the scheme or not. Service providers
has been launched calling for shorter journeys of under five miles to have a reduced cap of £1.75. The petition to Parliament also urges the Government to freeze the existing £3 cap for a minimum of three years for journeys exceeding five miles.
