BUT TREES PROTECTED AFTER PUBLIC BACKLASH
PLYMOUTH City Council is ploughing ahead with its plan to put Pounds House up for auction, but trees near to the property will be protected after a public backlash.
The Grade-II listed mansion has been empty for years, but the sale has proved controversial with just under 80 residents and some councillors opposed to plans to dispose of some land around the property.
Cllr Chris Penberthy, the cabinet member responsible for assets, said the move to protect the trees was in response to the strength of community feeling regarding the 'magnificent' trees.
