ARMADA WAY'S £30M UPGRADE 'PLAYED A PART IN THE SALE' SAYS COUNCIL
PLYMOUTH’S huge Armada Centre mall has been bought by a global investment company, with the council saying it was attracted by the £30m Armada Way upgrade.
London-headquartered asset management leviathan Schroders has snapped up the 39-year-old building but the price it paid is being kept confidential.
The building has Sainsbury's, Wilko and Peacocks as anchor stores, but also has vacant units, with the Silverstall closing this year and the former Laura Ashley unit empty for five years now. Sainsbury's renewed its lease in 2023. There is also a large double-deck car park.
One of Schroders’ impact funds now owns the building, formerly owned by the BBC's pension fund. Schroders impact investments are made with the aim of generating “positive, measurable social and environmental impact, alongside a financial return”.
