CITY BOXER'S VICTORY MAY HAVE BAGGED HIM A PROMOTER

- By ANDY PHILLIPS

PLYMOUTH fighter Connor Adaway said a stunning victory over Emmanuel Rodriguez in the US last weekend is the biggest of his career so far and may have bagged him a deal with a promoter.

Adaway won a convincing unanimous decision against the Puerto Rican in Atlantic City, New Jersey, despite being in the away corner at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

Adaway landed some crunching shots on Rodriguez, who had previously lost only twice in a 17-fight career during which he has held the WBO Latino Bantamweight title.

The city super bantamweight said the manner of his victory so impressed promoters in New Jersey that he has been offered a multi-fight deal to return to the US.

Adaway told The Herald: "I've had big wins away from home in the past but to crack America is definitely a big deal, and on paper he's definitely my best win.
