US says 'ball in Russia's court' as Ukraine agrees 30-day ceasefire

Ukraine said yesterday it was ready to accept an immediate 30-day ceasefire in the war with Russia, prompting the United States to immediately lift its restrictions on military aid and intelligence sharing.
Donald Trump said he hoped Russia's Vladimir Putin would reciprocate on the ceasefire and fighting would pause for the first time since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
The agreement was delivered in a joint statement after talks between senior US and Ukrainian officials in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
