Fears for translations as young Finns prefer reading in English

Growing numbers of young people in Finland are buying books in English rather than in their mother tongue, raising fears among publishers for the future of translated literature.
While overall fiction sales are on the rise, one in four books sold in Finnish bookshops last year was written in a foreign language, the vast majority in English, according to figures from the Booksellers Association of Finland (Kirjakauppaliitto).
