Denmark to drop VAT from books amid 'reading crisis'

Denmark is to stop charging VAT on books in an attempt to get more people reading.
With VAT at 25%, the country's tax on books is the highest in the world, a policy the government believes is contributing to a reading crisis.
The culture minister, Jakob Engel-Schmidt, announced yesterday that the government plans to remove the tax on books. This is expected to cost 330m kroner (£38m) a year.
