Denmark to ban under-15s from using social media platforms

Denmark will ban social media for children under 15, the country's prime minister said yesterday.
Mette Frederiksen used her speech at the opening of the Danish parliament to say that mobile phones and social networks were “stealing our children’s childhood”.
“We have unleashed a monster,” she said. “Never before have so many children and young people suffered from anxiety and depression.”
Many young people also had difficulty with reading and concentration, Frederiksen told MPs, adding that “on screens they see things no child or young person should see”.
