Adolescence gets 13 nods at Emmys as The Penguin and Severence shine

The Netflix drama Adolescence has scored 13 nominations at the Emmys, in a year led by the US dramas Severance and The Penguin.
Adolescence, which tells the story of the fallout after a schoolboy murders a classmate, recently became Netflix's second most watched English language series of all time. There were nominations for its actors Stephen Graham, Erin Doherty, Ashley Walters and newcomer Owen Cooper. The 15-year-old is the youngest to be nominated in his category.
Apple's chilly workplace thriller Severence has received 27 nominations for its second season, leading the drama categories while The Studio has broken Ted Lasso's record for the most nominations received by a new comedy series. The Seth Rogen-led Hollywood satire picked up 23 nods.
Severance is up for best drama and will face off against Andor, The Diplomat, The Last of Us, Slow Horses, The White Lotus, Paradise and The Pitt, the breakout hospital series that picked up 13 nominations.
