Patrick Monahan writes to us from the Edinburgh Festival, telling us how he got into the swing of golf recently...

'M at the Edinburgh Festival for the month! I love Edinburgh, it's the only city in the world that rains and has storms in the summer.

Before coming up to Edinburgh, I was asked to take part in a charity golf day to raise money. I said yes to this even though I've never played golf before, and they asked me what my handicap was.

I said “golf!”

I told them I've never played golf before and it might annoy the other people there who are proper golfers!

They said, “No, it'll be alright, it's a fun day out.”
