Woodsmith Mine project could restart before 2028

GLOBAL FIRM DELIVERS UPDATE
MINING giant Anglo American has reiterated suggestions its stalled Woodsmith Project which includes operations on Teesside could restart within two years.
Bosses at the FTSE100 global firm say there has been progress on the multibillion-pound project, despite scaling down of investment in the site and pause on some activities which sparked hundreds of job losses.
Efforts to build the 37km tunnel that will take polyhalite fertiliser from the mine site near Whitby to Redcar, where it will be processed and exported, have continued at slower pace with about 29.6km of the tunnel now bored.
There is also said to have been good progress on the sinking of a service shaft at the mine site.
The first half of this year has seen workers sinking through sandstone rock layers, as well as grouting and installation of watertight lining.
