CHILDREN FIND 'AMMO' IN FIELD
A DAD has slammed the person responsible for “hiding ammunition” on a Thornaby field after children unearthed a “bag of bullets”.
Cleveland Police officers were called to a section off land, north of Millbank Lane, at around 5.30pm on Monday after children playing in their “den” made a shocking discovery.
Now, neighbours have hit out at whoever left the suspected ammunition as they praise the youngsters for alerting an adult.
Forensic teams were on the land until late on Tuesday morning as scene of crime officers could be seen carrying evidence bags to the parked up vans.
A large cordon was in place as armed police were called to the area and officers guarded the area as darkness fell.
A dad, who has lived in the area all his life, told The Gazette: “I was just sat in the front and I heard the kids shouting that they'd found treasure, the next thing the street was full of police cars with lights on.
“My kids were out playing in what they call ‘Den One’
