MARION MCMULLEN talks to the Daily Mirror's archivists John Mead and Ivor Game about bringing the Second World War to life in photos
-
THEY say a picture is worth a thousand words and that is certainly true of World War Two - A History in 50 Photographs.
Head of Mirror archives John Mead said they spent weeks going through 25,000 photos to compile the commemorative magazine.
He said: "We were looking for pictures that told the stories of the war and also the people involved in the war... and the photographers who took the pictures and were on the frontline."
John said many of the photographs pack a powerful punch like the nuclear bomb mushroom cloud over Hiroshima. He said: "They show why we should never use those weapons again."
