Tokyo Bay to spearhead Burke double

THIS season's Sky Bet Sunday Series kicks off at Musselburgh and Karl Burke could have a good day, led by Tokyo Bay.

‘The four-year-old is having his first outing since a wind operation in the Sky Bet Extra Places Handicap and it is not difficult to forgive him his last outing at Ripon on heavy ground when he was almost pulled up.

‘That was his first run over two miles and it was in testing ground, but as he had won at the same track over a mile and a half when the mud was flying earlier in the season, conditions were expected to suit.

However, he never gave himself a chance by running too keen and his race was over early in the straight.

His win at Ripon worked out though, with the second winning next time and the third going on to win three, while the fourth, fifth, seventh and 10th all hit the target too.

Tokyo Bay ran in the Sheikh Mohammed Obaid colours last term but now sports the silks of Burke's wife Elaine, which could be a good sign.
