To the top of Roseberry Topping - 22 times in one day
The Gazette
|September 18, 2025
A MUM'S battle with a "sneaky" form of breast cancer spurred her on to scale Roseberry Topping 22 times in one day.
When Guisborough mum-of-three Melissa Robinson was told two years ago she had invasive lobular breast cancer, she admits it was a cancer "I knew nothing about".
Clinicians told her it was a "sneaky" cancer that, unlike the more common ductal cancer, doesn't always form a lump and can remain undetected in mammograms and ultrasounds.
Each day in the UK, 22 people are diagnosed with invasive lobular breast cancer, making it the second most common form - about 15% of all cases.
As a result, 22 has become a symbolic number for Melissa and fellow patients.
In June, she was one of 22 women who stood for 22 minutes outside Downing Street to raise awareness of a campaign to fund a multi-million pound research project at Manchester Breast Centre, aimed at understanding the basic biology of the disease.
