Thief admits stealing presents donated for disadvantaged children

A THIEF who snatched gifts destined for disadvantaged children this Christmas has appeared in court.

Paul Crane was arrested by Cleveland Police after gifts were taken from beneath a giving tree at Gabrielle's Ice Cream Parlour in Redcar.
Crane, 36, of no fixed abode, appeared at Teesside Magistrates' Court and admitted four counts of theft, which included stealing from Gabrielle's on Sunday, November 16.
The court ordered him to pay £100 in compensation. He also pleaded guilty to stealing charity collection tins from two other businesses in the town.
On November 17, he stole a tin from Coopers Chemist, at the New Medical Centre on Coatham Road.
The following day he stole chocolates worth £36 from Station Store on Station Road in Redcar.
