Song of the Clyde can hit high note at Redcar
The Gazette
|October 04, 2025
LAMBOURN trainer Clive Cox won Redcar's richest race with Dragon Leader two years ago - and he has another noteworthy contender with Song of The Clyde today.
Dragon Leader wins the William Hill Two Year Old Trophy in 2023 - trainer Clive Cox is aiming for a repeat success in Song Of The Clyde
The Sergei Prokofiev colt has won two of his five starts so far, including a highly competitive Class 2 race at the York Ebor Festival in August, and he has every chance of landing a cracking renewal of the listed William Hill Two Year Old Trophy under Rob Hornby.
He followed that York win by being a close second in the Weatherbys Scientific 300,000 2-Y-O Stakes at Doncaster last time. Aidan O'Brien's Brussels was fourth that day and he's since been second in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket, beaten three-quarters of a length by Wise Approach.
Song of the Clyde faces plenty of competition at Redcar, including Kevin Ryan's filly, Isle of Fernandez, who was a good third in a Group 3 at Ayr last time.
Hollywood Treasure, trained at Newmarket by Kevin Philippart De Foy, also has strong claims, having won her first two outings before being sent to Longchamp for a Group 3, finishing seventh.
