62-YEAR-OLD MAN APPEARS IN COURT CHARGED WITH WOUNDING

- By DANIEL HODGSON

A MIDDLESBROUGH pub has seen its premises licence suspended following an alleged attack.

The evening of Thursday, July 24 saw several police vehicles attend the Cleveland Huntsman pub in Hemlington, which remained cordoned off until Friday morning.

A 30-year-old was reportedly "stabbed in the abdomen area and slashed across the neck" following an argument, the licensing agenda states.

On Friday, Cleveland Police submitted an application to Middlesbrough Council for a summary review of the premises licence for the Viewley Centre Road venue.

The summary review hearing took place on Monday, with the provisional date for a full hearing on Monday, August 18.

The force wanted to see interim steps taken for suspension of the licence, as well as the removal of the designated premises supervisor (DPS).

The solicitor for the premises licence holder agreed with the police and, following deliberation by councillors, both of the requests made by the police were met.
