'Please get me to prison and I'll be able to come off drugs'

A HARTLEPOOL man has asked to go back to jail to 'get off drugs' after stealing goods worth £8 from Morrisons.

Raymond Downing has been jailed for 20 weeks for a single shoplifting offence.
Teesside Magistrates' Court heard how Downing, pictured, who has a lengthy criminal record, was handed a conditional discharge on November 5 after stealing £124.25 worth of goods from Marks and Spencer, in Anchor Retail Park.
But days later, on November 12, Downing, 55, stole £8 worth of goods from Morrisons, said prosecutor Joanne Bullock.
