Monica takes the plunge to open bar as tribute to dad 'Sharky'

A NEW eatery has opened in Guisborough and pays tribute to a much-loved pub landlord.

Friends Monica Moore and Ryan Milburn have welcomed customers to Sharky's Bar & Eatery, in Guisborough, last month.

Monica, whose family previously ran The Highcliff in Guisborough and later the Downe Arms in Castleton, says she and Ryan, who worked at the pub from age 16, decided to move away from working with breweries and open a venue of their own.

Sharky's is named in honour of Monica's dad, Mark Moore, who died last year.

She said: "Ryan worked with us for a long time, we decided to go into business together.

"We took this on. It's sort of in honour of my dad, he died of cancer last year. He taught me everything I know."
