Mayor aims to improve efficiency of processes

MIDDLESBROUGH’S mayor has given more details about the town’s newly introduced customer model.
At a meeting of the council's Overview and Scrutiny Board, held on April 9, MiddlesbroughLabour Mayor Chris Cooke set out to councillors what he was attempting to achieve and why he thought such changes were important.
One of the examples he set out explained how a process such as getting permission to demolish a building would be streamlined as a result of the changes.
The mayor said: “There's opportunities here to save an incredible amount of money while also improving the services that residents get.
“I think by the time that this is over, this will be the most impressive thing that we've done and some of the things that we talk about on a regular basis, hopefully won’t continue to be a problem in the same way.”
He initially singled out changes that would be made within the remit of adult social care and the “reforming” of the Accessing Change Together (ACT) service.
