POLICE CHIEF'S WARNING AFTER NIGHT OF VIOLENCE
-
A SENIOR police chief has warned criminals in a Teesside area that it will be made hostile for them and safer for the public following a night of violence.
Ten arrests have been made since trouble erupted in Grangetown seven days ago, with one person charged, and it has now been revealed that £50,000 in cash, a machete, an off-road bike and vehicles have also been recovered.
Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Dave Sutherland, head of local policing at Cleveland Police, spoke directly to the community in a YouTube video about the investigation and subsequent proactive activity that has taken place since the violence occurred on Thursday, October 16.
An investigation was launched after a black vehicle, believed to be a Volvo SUV, was driven into an address, a window was smashed at another home, a person was attacked, a vehicle was set alight and a car was shot at - all within a few hours.
The force described the incidents as 'linked and targeted' and the streets have been a hive of police activity for days afterwards.
