As Hornets claim first clean sheet of the season

The Gazette

JAVI Gracia believes his Watford side's comprehensive victory over Middlesbrough proves they can compete for promotion this season.

The Hornets climbed to tenth in the Championship table after their 3-0 victory over Boro, just four points off the top six.

That follows a mixed start to the season, with Gracia replacing Paulo Pezzolano after just ten games.

With Watford's away form dreadful in comparison to their home, Gracia is hoping their first clean sheet of the season in the win over Boro will help to inspire improved form on that front too, as Gracia felt the result against Boro side proved they can compete with the best in the division.
