NOWADAYS, driving to our destination along Teesside’s roads is often taken for granted.

Locals are able to whisk their cars north or south along the A19, or east to west through Middlesbrough town centre along the A66, on smooth dual carriageways in a matter of minutes... depending on the traffic, of course.
Given the role they have played in many Teesside motorists’ lives, it can be difficult to imagine what came before. Unearthed pictures provide a real trip down memory lane for those who remember when these links were coming to fruition.
