Dalbeattie man Paul Brown is to go on trial later this year charged with attacking a woman.

The 43-year-old, from Maxwell Gardens, faced four allegations at Dumfries Sheriff Court.

He is alleged to have assaulted a woman at his home on July 30 this year by seizing her on the body and repeatedly punching her body causing her to fall to the floor before repeatedly punching and striking her head and body to the woman's injury.

Brown is also charged with shouting, swearing, acting aggressively towards the woman and uttering threats to harm himself on the same day and property then throwing her belongings downstairs.

The third charge is that he was found in possession of class A drug diamorphine on July 30 at Dumfries Police Station.

And Brown’s final charge is that on September 12 at his home he broke a bail condition set at court on August 13 to stay clear of a woman by allowing himself to be found in her company.

Brown pleaded not guilty to the first charge of assault but admitted the second offence under an amendment. But this was refused by the crown and a plea of not guilty was listed in court papers.
